Rules and regulations

1. Racing

§1.
A team shall consist of a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 20 paddlers and one drummer.

§2.
The Dragon Boat Race is subdivided into four different categories. Three of those categories are in the Fun Class and one category is in the Elite Class:
The Fun Classes:

Only two professional paddlers may participate in the Fun Class races.
The Elite Class:

If there are too few entries for any one category, categories may be merged.


§3.
Teams which have registered online and have paid the starting fee shall be eligible to participate.

§4.
Starting fees shall not be reimbursed in the event that a participating team cancels its registration or withdraws from the competition.

§5.
Boats with a rudder and a drum, as well as paddles and life-jackets, shall be provided by the organisers. Due care should be taken when using the equipment. Participants shall be invoiced for costs which are incurred as a result of wilful damage or damage caused by gross negligence.

§6.
The organisers shall provide the Fun Teams with a helmsman during their races. Teams shall not be entitled to request a specific individual. The helmsmen shall be allocated on a random basis.

§7.
Teams which do not appear punctually for the start of their race shall be excluded from the race in question. Starting fees shall not be refunded in this instance.


2. Safety

§1.
Participants are obliged to comply with instructions issued by the organiser’s staff members unconditionally and in full.

§2.
All participants shall take part at their own risk and are obliged to organise independent insurance cover as required.

§3.
Those participating in the Fun Categories shall be obliged to wear life-jackets during their races.

§4.
Teams or individuals who do not comply with instructions issued by the organiser’s staff members shall be excluded from the races. Starting fees shall not be refunded in this instance.


3. Liability

§1.
All team members shall be deemed to have waived their right to make liability claims against the organisers of the Dragon Boat Cup as well as against the security company and helpers and any sponsors, their representatives, agents or successors in title, this with the registration of the team captain.

§2.
Moreover, the registration of the team captain shall also constitute confirmation that all the team members are physically capable of participating in the Cup and are also capable of swimming a minimum of 500 m when fully clothed.

§3.
The organisers shall be unconditionally authorised to utilise any sound recordings or graphic reproductions featuring the team recorded or taken during its participation in this event, this with the registration of the team captain. These may be used and exploited on a commercial basis or for any other purpose.

§4.
The organisers shall accept no liability for any items or articles of clothing belonging to the participants which are lost or damaged.


4. Miscellaneous

§1.
When registering the individual team members, the team captain shall confirm that he or she has informed each team member of the conditions of participation and the safety regulations and has emphasised their contents and significance in a sufficient manner.
